The term "mental wellness" was first used in 2001 by Dr. Jane Myers. It includes the ability to reduce stress, be curious, feel joy, and be grateful. It’s the person who finds opportunities for creativity and has a hobby. It’s having knowledge about emotions within oneself and others. It’s figuring out how to have a balanced life, even in a life filled with hurry and stress and anxiety.

Do You Miss Going to Museums!
If you miss going to museums, "visit" the Metropolitan Museum of Art via an in-person Zoom course. The one-hour course will nourish your soul as you admire fine and decorative arts at the MMA. Whether you've ever visited the MMA or not, you'll feel refreshed and enthralled at the end of the class. The session incorporates a few relaxing activities that build mental wellness, increase a sense of wellbeing, and calm the nervous system. The coronavirus has disrupted our lives and made visiting museums harder, so come along to this Zoom class! Susan Ward, the instructor, did her internship at the MMA and has an MA in museum studies.
